BEING THERE WHEN IT COUNTS: How Open Are You to Receiving?

Being There When It Counts with Rick Itzkowich

I met a contractor during one Chamber of Commerce mixer. He shared with me how business was slow for him and that he had been forced to lay off most of his staff. I asked him how he was staying in touch with past customers and prospects and he said that he wasn't. His reason was that he couldn't do that AND generate new business.

I find it fascinating that people fail to see the existing opportunities for additional business within their existing databases. They are all too busy chasing after NEW business while totally forgetting about their "old" business.

I suggested he start using the QuoteActions email marketing system since it takes minutes to set up and is fully automated once it gets going. He was a little reluctant at first but finally agreed to give it a try.

He called me a week later and said, "Rick, you won't believe what happened! Yesterday, I got a call from a prospect I had met over three years ago. He had just received my invitation to receive QuoteActions and was thrilled. He had been thinking about me because he wanted to get started on a remodel project but he had lost my card and didn't know how to reach me. I just returned from meeting with him and got a $50,000 job!"

Opportunities are all over the place for us. However unless we are open and prepared to receive them, we will miss them.

Here's this month's QuoteAction:

"A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities; an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties." WWI soldier - Reginald B. Mansell

Your action for this month is to take one of your challenges and turn it into an opportunity.

As always, Jason...we thank you for our mutually-supportive relationship.

3. SITES TO SEE -- NOW: Part Deux

There are several super sites (in the vast web of THE NATIONAL NETWORKER) which you should definitely look at and favoritize. We'll admit...we are still under construction, and are making constant improvements to the navigation "friendliness" of all of our sites -- and yes, we have a truckload of them -- more than 22 of 'em and growing. The trick is going to be centralizing the navigation right on the website. This should be in place very soon -- we are internally beta testing right now. We're just like Microsoft, except we do our beta-testing prior to releasing our product to the public.

For a complete sitemap and index of all of our sites, simply click on http://tnnwindex.blogspot.com/, and FAVORITIZE. {yes, yes...it sounds like a window cleaner} Keep this handy - when you're on any page, look for the INDEX TO TNNW SITES button to return to the Index at any time.

Visit http://tnnw10.blogspot.com/, and FAVORITIZE. We have UPDATED our listing of advertisers, affiliates and services. There are some deep promotional discounts and other advantages exclusively for TNNW subscribers. Look for ChapterTracker, Andy Lopata's 2 CD set, and, of course for Douglas Castle's exciting new ad for THE CASTLE CONSULTANCY. If you are curious as to what I do -- I work very closely with young, growing enterprises on strategic planning and development. I am relentless, determined and demanding; on the bright side, I have good table manners. Visit DOUGLAS CASTLE PUSHES PEOPLE TOO HARD, for more details.

4. FACT: HOW YOU DEAL WITH FEAR WILL MAKE YOU EITHER A LOSER OR A WINNER

The primary motivating force in most people's lives is FEAR. People respond more to fear than to opportunity. Fear holds us back, inhibits us, makes us indecisive, attracts negative energies (misery loves company), and keeps us from reaching our potential, both personally and in business.

Question: Are you going to saddle up and ride the shark... or be eaten by it?

TNNW Featured Columnist, noted consultant and speaker Christine West is hosting a fabulous five-part webinar series called How To Master The Fear In Challenging Economic Times. The series begins on June 9th. Registration materials will be sent out during the next several days -- you will need to register early. How you deal with fear can transform every aspect of your life.

To hear a sample voice clip of Christine West, simply click on: http://www.thebusinessmd.net/downloads/TheBusinessMD-Interview-Business-Corner-09.mp3.

5. REMINDER

You're missing out. To get the full benefit of THE NATIONAL NETWORKER and all that we have to offer, you MUST subscribe to either the RSS FEED or the EMAIL feed. Please do it now in order to keep your free subscription! Click on:

DAILY RSS FEED
or on
DAILY EMAIL FEED

It's really quite simple. If you actually do it, you'll find out that this is indeed true. By the way, the email feed, which contains all of the content of the RSS Feed as well, is the more popular of the two by a significant margin.

6. AN OBSERVATION

* NETWORKING IS A TOOL TO CREATE RELATIONSHIPS, AND NOT AN END IN ITSELF. BUSINESS HAPPENS BECAUSE OF RELATIONSHIPS. BOTTOM LINE...IT ALWAYS COMES DOWN TO THE PERSONAL INTERACTION BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE.

7. TWITTER US!

You are cordially invited to follow TNNW (and we will follow you back) on Twitter at http://twitter.com/TNNW_BUZZWORKS .

Enjoy the articles, and enjoy all of our TNNW sites. We have so much to offer each other. Let's put it to work for everyone's benefit.

Yours,

Adam J. Kovitz and Douglas Castle

THE BOOM IN BOOMER NETWORKING: Life is Complicated

The Boom in Boomer Networking with Elaine Ingis

Life is complicated – WOW, what an understatement. Trying to find your way out of one complication usually leads you into another, at least that’s been my “M.O.”. But, undaunted, I keep trudging along. Subconsciously I must be a believer in the philosophy that it is always “harder to hit a moving target.” I keep moving.

I believe that everything I do I do well – some are just “weller” than others. On a “well” day I reach my goal 1-2-3. On a less “well” day it may take me 15-16-17, etc. The important thing is that I always manage to get to where I need to be. Although it’s been argued that I am a bit of a Pollyanna, I never thought I was anything but brilliant in my tenacity and drive.

W R O N G.

I took pride in figuring out everything on my own. Learning from my mistakes, many repeated under a different guise. My energy was high, my attitude was positive, my creativity was always questioning – I Was Exhausted! Why did I need to go it alone when I could have learned from others' experiences, tapped into others' resources, get input from others who may have been there, and had truly done that?

– Why didn’t I streamline and accelerate the process by simply networking, and leveraging the experience and knowledge of other human beings.

As you may know, I am the Founder of SrMeetUp! (our website address is http://www.SrMeetUp.com), an interactive social and business community for Baby Boomers Sixty Years Plus. I’ve had a commitment and passion toward this amazing populace long before it became obvious, that we, the Woodstock Generation, needed to re-direct and reunite – to come home – to be heard. New and improved! … yada, yada is great -- but there is nothing like the bonding of similar life experiences to build a neighborhood of recognizable icons and memories. I’ve come to realize that I didn’t have to reinvent the wheel to build a new vehicle (perhaps I should sell my formula to Chrysler and GM). I simply had to network.

I still have loads of energy, still a glass half full kinda gal, never at a loss for questions, but I have accomplished so much more by simply tapping into information and experiences from my new colleagues and, hopefully, new friends.

So, friends, I need a favor. Still getting my site up and running – should be launched by July - and would love your opinions and comments on what we’ve accomplished and perhaps where you’d like to see us go. Visit us at http://SrMeetUp.blogspot.com/ those of you who are certifiably Boomers or younger (we all have Boomers in our lives), and tell us what would you truly like to see. Your input is precious. Whether it is about design, concepts, features or anything else, we’d like to know about it. I am sure, in the future, that I will be able to reciprocate either through my website or as a network buddy – as a matter of fact, I look forward to that.
