linked in launches platform, redesign — a better business social network

From VentureBeat

By Eric Eldon 12.9.07

linkedinlogo.pngLinkedIn has just launched its own developer platform and a new design that promises to make it more useful to its millions of business users.

Earlier this year, many have wondered if social network Facebook would overtake LinkedIn, as businesspeople have begun using Facebook for business networking — and for enjoying its more social features.

LinkedIn’s new features now put it a step ahead of the competition. You’ll start finding connections to people on LinkedIn while you’re using other web sites, through third party applications. You’ll see connections from friends from other social networks like Myspace and Hi5 show up in LinkedIn. You’ll get “modules” (like Facebook applications) and a news aggregator, featuring articles about your industry — LinkedIn’s efforts to make you spend more time on the site each day.

Small Group Has Big Mission

By Glen Gould, Southeast Bureau Chief

If you were to bring together business and community leaders in a small group setting and provide breakfast in a convenient and attractive environment, one might argue that you would have the recipe for a successful business networking organization. If you added interesting and knowledgeable speakers and packed the program full of opportunities to meet people, learn skills and grow both personally and professionally, you’d have an atypical networking group. But add in a mission, something that the entire group could focus on and you’d have an extraordinary opportunity. In short, you’d have the Atlanta Community Breakfast.

The Atlanta Community Breakfast is a network of individuals who are interested in exploring issues of success, personal leadership, and life-balance as they relate to our personal, professional and spiritual lives. It is a weekly breakfast in a convenient, attractive location where business and community leaders can grow in their faith and mentor others while networking with and meeting like minded individuals.

Zale's Bio Email article RSS feed Share on facebook

I met Craig through LinkedIn.com and he helped us with a project in Calgary that brought together all the major oil and gas associations to help address the lack of people in Calgary. The project was very successful with over 60 senior oil and gas executives attending. This is the kind of network Craig has in Calgary.

Craig is a Dadpreneur, which means he is a stay at home Dad three days a week while being the consummate entrepreneur. Craig’s core network is his 10,000 connections which he maintains and grows by about 1,000 connections a year. Craig is an early adopter of technology, one of the first several thousand on LinkedIn and full time user of Plaxo. Craig knows everything about using the technology to maintain and connect with a huge number of connections.

Craig’s passions (beside his family) is helping start-up entrepreneurs and promoting the Trigger-Based Selling™. Trigger based selling is about identifying key times when customers are ready to buy. You can find out more about Trigger Selling at Craig’s blog at www.Shiftselling.com.
