UPDATE! Bulletin - TNNWC Weekly Newsletter - 09.05.2010

Greetings Colleagues, Members and Friends:

It is rare that you find an individual who is truly an accomplished expert at marketing -- particularly internet marketing. Most coaches and consultants can help you with a very narrow, vertical piece of what you need to do, whether it is PR, News Releases, Social Media Buzz, Branding, SEO, customer relations and retention...the list is long. While each of these things is necessary, you must your business "findable" (searchable), accessible, self-explanatory (with benefits and features right up front, plain, simple and obvious), intuitively-navigable (for visitors and prospective customers to find their way around your site, your space or your store, interactive (where customers can engage you and feel that they are being heard), and different than any other prospective competitors within your space.

You need an expert to scientifically examine your product or service, your prospective customer audience, your presentation (i.e., usually your website or blog), and to optimize the mix of factors that will make it magnetic. This requires an understanding of behavioral psychology, technology, communications and an additional element of artistry, as well as science and metrics. Putting the proper attractants in place requires a thorough review of what your objectives are, the way you are marketing at present, and an actiona list of items to implement in order to improve your profitability. The person undertaking this must be an expert, with time-tested and diverse experience.

TNNWC's Chief Marketing Officer, Joyanne Sloan, is one of those rare individuals who is fully qualified to take you by the hand and bring you to market. Joyanne is not only or CMO, but she also renders her professional services to clients, and sells some of her educational products and assessment tools to businesses wanting to get noticed and get sales.

Here's some information about Joyanne - her resume makes us common folk just a tad jealous...

---------------

You would be well-advised to get in contact with Joyanne. The biggest error most of us are inclined to make is that we tend to be very subjective (that's Human Nature) and we design our products, promotions and materials to suit ourselves, and not necessarily our marketplace. We get too emotionally involved.

Joyanne offers experience, expertise and objectivity. She can get you to the top of Google and the other principal search engines, and can help you stay there.

INTERNET MARKETING: THE SCIENCE OF SUCCESS: Getting to the Top of Google (Part 2)

(you can read Part 1 of this article here)

Getting To The Top of Google Takes Commitment.
I think we can all agree that getting anywhere in business or in life requires real dedication. Assuming you have that, you need to then understand the very important reasons WHY providing truly focused website content is so beneficial to you.

1. Focused Content Allows Domination
If you want to really dominate your market where search engine results are concerned, then the more UNIQUE content you publish on a particular topic, the more the search engines will understand what you do best. Think of it this way, the search engines send out what are called spiders to crawl and index the ever-growing number of web pages. A spider is an automated robot of sorts and unless you tell it exactly what it is that you offer (and say it repeatedly), it has no way of distinguishing the content of your website from any of the other 5 billion sites crowding the Internet.

2. Focused Content Conveys Expertise
Just for a moment, let's set aside your personal considerations about whether or not you're an “actual” expert in your field. A search engine spider surely cannot make that determination but it can know that you've got more keyword-specific content on a particular topic than your competitor's site does. Remember, as long as the search engines “think” you are a leader in your given field, it will rank your site accordingly. The bigger opportunity is that when prospective customers find your site in the top search engine results, they too assume you have a certain level of expertise without even having visited your website, much less knowing your credentials.

3. Focused Content Supports Value
If you think about it, you'll quickly realize that our society equates a high level of compensation with a high degree of specialization. Who gets paid more... a nurse or a cardiac surgeon? Who earns more... the guy who sells you a beer or the vintner who produces fine French wines? The point I'm trying to make is that unless you can establish that you are the go-to resource for specific products or services, then you will find yourself competing on nothing more than price.

4. Focused Content Perpetuates Success
As Einstein discovered, things in motion tend to stay in motion. And when it comes to Internet marketing, those sites that rank highly tend to stay toward the top of search engine results. This is because the first five organic search results get a disproportionately huge amount of web searchers clicking those links. And the more clicks you get to your website, the more Google sees that consumers are consistently validating your website as a relevant to the search term used. Above all, fresh and unique content gives substance and credibility to your site and those are two essential reasons why people bookmark, share and come back to a particular website.

Use This Excellent Tool
As you produce new articles, blog posts, and white papers for your site, you'll want to determine that your copy writing is sufficiently rich with those keywords (and keyword phrases) that have known search demand behind them. You can use Google's free Adwords Keyword Tool to research and come up with your keywords.

Then, before you publish new content, you'll want to use those same keywords throughout your piece such that the keyword density is near 4% but does not exceed 4%. Repeating keywords too often in your copy writing is known as keyword stuffing and can result in a penalty by all major search engines.

There's another free and super useful tool to do live analysis of your writing BEFORE you finally publish it on your website. Remember, always write with a clear purpose (to get to the top of Google)!

THE NET-TECH REPORT: Get FOUND Online – The 5 Keys To Successful Keyword Optimization

The Net-Tech Report with Chris Kauza

Bottom Line:
Without the right keyword optimization in place, you website is a nothing more than a beautiful billboard on a deserted road, that no one will ever see. Do it right, and your website can become the most important billboard on a super highway filled with cars (i.e. - customers) who ONLY want to see what you are offering.

Keyword Optimization is part “Art” and part “Science”. It is the process of determining the best keywords and key phrases that your customers and prospects type into a search engine window, in order to find your company’s products and services. Your keywords or keyword phrases should support your Brand and help drive your overall Marketing Strategy. Keyword Selection and Optimization is a fundamental core aspect of any Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Strategy. Do a good job of this and your web pages will receive higher search engine rankings. Do a poor job and you run the risk of never being found through search engine queries.

There are a number of tools and methods to help you optimize your website, some are free and some require payment. One of the most popular – freely available – is the Adwords Tool from Google (www.google.com/adwords). Using this tool can give you enough information to find out how many search engine results there were for a particular keyword or phrase.

Better search engine optimization is the key to get your site performing where you want it to and getting top rankings. Keyword optimization tools are a quick and easy way to determine the best “supply and demand” ratio for your keywords; you want to "work smarter not harder".

Taking the time to search for keywords that are relevant to the topic of your web page in the beginning can pay dividends down the road. Good keyword optimization will improve your web pages’ search engine rankings by helping the search engines more easily understand your content. The more easily they understand what your webpage is about, the more easily the search engines can appropriately rank it in the right search engine result. Search engines want to return relevant search engine results, which in turn, helps visitors find your site when they are performing their searches. By adding finely tuned keywords and keyword phrases to your web pages, you can bring as many relevant visitors to your site as possible.

The most important aspects of keyword optimization include:
  • learning how to use keyword optimization tools

  • sorting keywords by popularity

  • refining and combining phrases

  • writing titles using the most relevant two and three keyword phrases

  • writing properly optimized descriptions and keyword Meta tags

Once you submit your optimized site to the search engines, you will start to see good results over a period of time – it can take anywhere from two week to two months or more, before all of the top search engines re-index (“spider”) your web page. Tagging your pages with the phrases that best match the overall theme of your site will ensure that users will find your site when searching for similar content. Try to choose relevant and popular keywords and phrases for your company – but not “too popular” as it may take a long time before your web page gets ranked.

Keyword optimization should cover everything you need to know for optimal web page performance - from structuring your account to editing keywords and web page text. Also be sure to include relevant keyword variations including singular and plural versions of specific, relevant two and three word keyword phrases. You may also want to consider including misspellings of important keywords in your web page description, as you may be able to rank highly for those as well. Sometimes, your customer might take a “wrong” path to the “right” destination – your product or service.
