The Bottom line is this. When going after what you want you must ask two questions:

• How badly do you want it?

• What are you willing to do to get it?

'I am real' is a framework I created a while back to help give my clients a greater awareness on how to make changes in their life. Not just changes, but lasting changes. We all change something about ourselves for a minute, an hour, or even several days. But how often do we commit to lasting change? 'I am real' allows you to ask yourself some really great questions to move you toward your goals or dreams.

• I = Ideas

• A = Actions

• M = Momentum

• Real = Reality

The question that is asked when it comes to ideas is: What is it that you want? Then after you ask that question, you must also ask yourself: What is it that I really want? Because all too often we think we know what we want, but we really need to dig down deep to pull it out. Then, actions bring about questions like: What are you willing to do to make it happen? And again, you must drill down and ask: What are you truly willing to do to make it happen? So often we say we are not going to stop until we reach our goal, but the moment something tries to block us, we stop. The greatest accomplishments in life come shortly after the greatest challenges in our lives. Momentum will bring you to the place where your greatest change takes place so the best question here is: What needs to be done now to keep it going? Many times when we reach this place we take our foot off the gas. That is what kills our chances of reaching that lasting change we are looking for. Finally, is reality: What would your life be like when you reach your goals? Or what would your life be like if you knew you couldn't fail?

The lesson that should be taken away from this article is simply this: No one person, book, teacher, coach or mentor has all the answers. But they will help you open doors you never knew existed before. The truth is... nothing changes until you change, nothing happens until you get moving. We all think that it takes too much time to make change happen, what we don't realize is, that by the time we finish reading this article someone or something in this world has changed. I am real.... are you?

The Bottom Line:

• Leaders are not born they are made

• Leadership is a choice you must make in order to be one.

I have spent most of my life with the idea that you need to be a leader not a follower in order to get the things you want out of life. We have talked in past articles about what being a leader is, and that it is a choice not something you are born with. This time I really want to pull apart the sentence “Be a leader, not a follower.” As this New Year begins I want to challenge you to be a follower more now than ever before. You see the meaning we give words make them stronger or weaker than they really are. For most of you when you see the sentence, I challenge you to be a follower, start to think I must be crazy. By definition leader means a person who rules or guides or inspires others and follower means a person who accepts the leadership of another. But if you look deeper you can find even more then what is just on the surface.

Another definition for leadership is a way which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task and for follower it is someone who travels behind or pursues another. The surface of being a leader, follower or life in general is just that the surface. With the New Year comes new challenges and with that should come new ways to approach these challenges. I know where you’re at, I do. You feel scared, afraid, unsure, and most of all stuck. You must go past the surface and find what is lying inside all of us, the follower.

Follow your Heart

Follow your Passion

Follow your Purpose

Follow your Soul

Follow your True Love

For that will make you a Leader. Give yourself permission to dream and whatever that dream is follow it. You cannot lead a single person until you lead yourself and the best way to do that is to follow your heart. It may lead you down a path of hurt and challenges, but remember it is only on the surface. To dig down deep you must follow the path and take all the challenges in order to reap all of the glory. I ask you now in these uncertain times more than ever before follow. Follow your dreams for they will lead you to where ever it is you want to go.

Here is the bottom line:
• What would your organization look like if you only sought out solutions?
• Imagine how powerful your team would be if you were armed with this skill from the get go, what would you be able to accomplish now?
• Where could you go with your organization now if you decide to develop this skill today?

Ask any 6 to 10 year old what they want to be when they grow up and you will get all different types of answers. From playing Professional Baseball, to Ballerina, Doctor, maybe even President of the United States. The reason for this is simple, they have unlimited power. The power to believe in the unknown, the power to know that anything is possible. So why is it, that more than 95% never reach those dreams? They get the unfortunate reality of everyone telling them how hard it is instead of explaining to them what needs to be done to get there.

I see it every single day from multiple clients coming to me with problem after problem and saying simple I don't know what I am going to do. We have become a society that more times than not, solely focuses on the problem or challenge never the solution. We have been trained to constantly dive deeper and deeper into the problems in our organizations, and never to seek out solutions. Trying to solve problems only creates more problems. Solutions allow you to put something in place to eliminate problems. Now I am not saying that you will never have problems again. But with a solution in place you have a reference point to make better, a chance to continually evolve and grow to handle more and more issues as they arrive. Ask yourself these 3 questions;

You have the opportunity right now to focus on the solution. Question is, do you want to? Or do you want to keep doing what you are doing right now? The definition of insanity is: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. How can you get where you want to go, grow your life or business to the next level without doing something different? Embrace that inner child and know that you also have unlimited power to do and be anything you want to be, never let anyone take that away from you.
