Managing Relationships
by Adam J. Kovitz
Today is Father's Day here in the U.S. and I was delighted to received three different Father's Day cards from my three different sons. This got me thinking.
Between my sons and I we all share a common relational status: that of a father and son, but what I find so intriguing is that each relationship is VERY DIFFERENT.
To my oldest (the soccer star), he views me as someone who is funny, hard-working, caring, supportive and his personal coach who follows him around before and after each game and practice. For Son #2, my physical features seem important; the fact that I have short, "fuzzy" hair (his words), perpetual stubble on my face, hair on my chest, a necklace and my laugh. Lastly, Son #3 (Son #2's twin), sees me as "someone famous" (again, his words) and respects my ability to work with gears (we play Legos a lot together, my old sets were the advanced motor/gear sets and I have a degree in Engineering) as well as my musical tastes (we both share an appreciation for drums and like to play Rock Band together).
Same relational status, three individuals that are important to me, three different relationships that I must manage effectively.
As the Chairman of an emerging enterprise, I have relationships with my writers, with TNNWC's Executive Team, with our Cooperative Business Committee (CBC), our Selected Service Providers, and you, the one who is reading this.
This is true with any entrepreneurial endeavor or emerging enterprise...the key to business success is in how you manage the various relationships on which all stakeholders depend. And while this is certainly common sense, it is not always common practice.
Speaking of relationships, we are proud to announce two key relationships that are now part of our new Cooperative Business Committee (CBC): Bonnie Ross-Parker of The Joy of Connecting and Sandra Levitin of Kalön Women. Bonnie has been a long-time friend and supporter of TNNWC and joins us now as the Chairperson of the CBC. Bonnie was recently honored by the Direct Selling Women's Alliance as one of their "Women of Achievement" as well as being a permanent placement of the "Wall of Achievement" on the Princess Diana Exhibit. For more information, click here.
Sandra and Kalön Women are certainly no stranger to the 40+ women's entrepreur community and recently joined forces with TNNWC to produce a news release for her organization as well as a Call for Submission for the upcoming Kalön Womens Magazine series, "Memories of My Father" and "Memories of My Childhood". Lastly, Sandra is producing a new Teleseminar Series, "Get Your Big Girl Panties On: The 8 Habits of Big Girl Panty Players". For the fully-downloaded PDF announcement, please click here.
And while the CBC is championing the formation of our Global Interworked Cooperative Business Community (GICBC) and have joined the "GICBC Movement", we are asking all of you on LinkedIn and Facebook to show us your support and get involved as well with our new discussion groups:
