The one thing I love about networking and building relationships is meeting like - minded people.
And in particularly, I enjoy the many memories created from the interactions and exchanges we have while together.
If you have read any of my previous articles, you will notice that I often speak about the power of increased interaction with others.
In fact, I’m always suggesting that you increase your frequency of interaction with others.
It’s been proven that increased interaction brings increased cooperation with others.
A great relationship technique that I have used over the years is while reminiscing with the people I’ve met before, to use my ability to recall conversation we had together. Reminiscing helps to create positive impact at the point of interaction with others.
So we can all get on the same page, let’s take a moment to define the concept and the word reminisce.
"Reminisce" and its relative "reminiscence" come from the mind -- that is to say, they come from the Latin word for "mind" to create the Latin verb "reminisci" ("to remember"), an ancestor of both words. "Reminisce" distinguishes itself from the others by implying a casual recalling of experiences long past, often with a sense of nostalgia.
If by chance you happen to see some of the same people over and over again, remember this. While it is nice to tell them that it's nice to see them again, I suggest that you take a moment and reminisce, remember, recollect and remind each other of the good ole days.
I would be remiss if I didn’t at least provide the lyrics from one of my favorite bands –
The Little River Band, and of course their # 1 single – Reminiscing.
"...Friday night, it was late, I was walking you home. We got down to the gate and I was dreaming of the night... would it turn out right. How to tell you ,girl I wanna build my world around you... tell you that it's true. I wanna make you understand - I'm talkin' about a lifetime plan...That's the way it began, we were hand in hand. Glenn Miller's Band was better than before. We yelled and screamed for more. And the Porter tunes (Night and Day) made us dance across the room. It ended all too soon. And on the way back home I promised you'd never be alone.
Hurry, don't be late, I can hardly wait I said to myself when we're old. We'll go dancing in the dark... Walking through the park and reminiscing... "
