BLUE THING #10: LINGOVATION OF THE WEEK. JA!
Dear Friends:
As you may or may not know, a Lingovation is a newly-created, freshly-coined word, often comprised of a hybrid or contraction of several existing words, which comes into being when no other single existing word or word combination (and sometimes not even an entire paragraph!) can precisely express the thought. They are not nonsensical terms, and must indeed be taken very seriously.
STRETCHERY – A propensity toward jumping rapidly to self-serving conclusions (this is a phenomenon which is quite often seen in politics, scientific studies which must be conducted, concluded and written up for publication under a very unrealistic timeframe, and in tiny courtrooms that serve rural hamlets with populations (all of which members are likely blood-relatives) despite a lack of any type of demonstrable evidence or confirmable logic to support them. Some examples include, “If you’re not with me, you’re a Communist!’ or “He’s that new boy I seen walkin’ around these parts. Child just don’t look reg’lar, like one of us. He’s the one what stole my chickens, yer Honor. When do we git to hangin’ ‘im, the no-good…”
