In December of 2009, Julie Edwards joined the entrepreneurial organization known as CEO Space. Everything seemed to go against it but in spite of all the adversity she was determined to attend their December Forum and is she glad she did.
At the forum she was introduced to Gerry Foster, one of our forum speakers on branding. He asked Julie to show him her mineral-based skin care products. He loved what she had and immediately called Lisa Nichols, another forum instructor, and requested that she immediately come to Julie’s room. With that introduction, Lisa had Julie prepare her before her forum presentation on Wednesday. From the platform Lisa promoted Julie and her natural products. This created great excitement and interest in what Julie was promoting.
By weekend, Julie had many people very interested in her cosmetic line, one was ready to invest in her business another, invited her to be a part of a CEO Space contingency at the 2010 Super Bowl. Two major WINs from attending one forum.
What followed was a process of taking her business one step at a time (what we call sequencing) and gaining greater exposure. From her experience at the Super Bowl in Miami she was invited to participate in a special entrepreneurial event at the 2010 NBA All-Star Game in Dallas in February. Just this past week she was highlighted in a radio talk program.
So what is Julie’s business that is generating such interest?
The Color and Soul Café is a custom cosmetic boutique and holistic skin care salon featuring mineral-based cosmetics, custom-scented natural body care products, herbs and natural supplements and skin therapies specially designed and targeted to meet the needs of Women of Color. The Café is designed to be a playground for women much like a sports bar is for men but with amenities that big girls like. In addition to C and S products and services, the café also provides a forum for book club discussions and signings, poetry readings, musical presentations, small workshops and seminars. With so little being offered to the ethnic market in the cosmetic industry, The Color and Soul Café is a haven of choice, exact color matching, targeted skin therapy, stress management and holistic health information for all Women of Color. The Color and Soul Café is a destination spot for women around the world to come and be pampered, beautified and (most of all) recognized and served.
Julie’s mission is to acknowledge and address Women of Color and their specific cosmetic needs and skin concerns based upon their own standards of beauty and thereby revolutionize how Women of Color wear makeup and care for their skin. She has set a goal to create the highest paid makeup artists and cosmetic consultants in the cosmetic industry. A foundational principle she stands behind is to be a company that acknowledges and celebrates its employees and consultants with respect and reward, products and services they can proudly support and opportunities to express individuality, creativity and talent that fosters growth and prosperity at all levels within the company.
Keep an eye out for Julie and Color and Soul. This is an up and coming business that is going to have an international market very soon.
