Networking with Non Profits

AHA !!!

I have long been an advocate that artists ARE “the bank”. The artist might be on the verge of starvation, broke, living simply, eating badly, or anything close to what we call the compromised edge, AND if a Non Profit organization asks them to donate a painting to an auction that will underwrite a fundraiser for a Children’s Hospital, an arts education program, a cancer research center, or as in the case with Hurricane Katrina ... the artists from New Orleans traveled around the country playing the traditional music for which New Orleans is known, purely to raise money for their own home town. They did not have to be adopted, placed, housed, fed, or anything like that ... they are a resilient group of people and that is one of the major reasons that I JUST love them all so much ... the artist always finds a means to procure what ever is needed. It’s just that state of challenge that encourages them to create, and to continue to GIVE.

In the case, with being asked to donate a painting ... and being completely broke, the artist finds a way to procure the canvas, the paint, the framing, AND they deliver ... The work is often, auctioned for a lesser price than the value of the work ... Hmmm?

I’ve seen it happen many, many times. It continues to blow my mind, especially knowing what I know, and knowing HOW to procure sales on behalf of an individual artist, and their unique works.

So, I decided to do something about it ... One artist at a time.

I have recently engaged a contract with Courtney Milne Productions, and artist / photographer Courtney Milne ... (see Past Articles, Courtney Milne, Photographer As Mystic)...
