Know Me, Like Me, Follow Me is the title of the new book from Penny Power. The book is all about what social media means for you and your business. Penny founded Ecademy, the online network for business people, in 1998 - five years before Facebook started!
Penny has written the book to share what she has learned in that time about the effective use of social networks and social media. In the book she takes you on an easy to understand journey through the online world. She shows how you can use social networks and social media to take responsibility for your personal brand and build a strong future in this changing business world.
The title is a great demonstration of the fact that this is not a passive world. You cannot simply have a presence and expect to grow your business. You have to do things and form deep relationships to become part of a community where what you get is a result of what you give first.
Above all the lesson from penny is that being online is not about the technology it is about the people. If you go about it in the right way you will build a strong financial future and a strong emotional and spiritual one too.

Dave, I absolutely agree with you and Penny, that social networking is not about the technology, it's about people. I find that when I respond to tweets and Facebook comments with a personal message I get to know the other person better and they get to know me better. I've actually gotten prospect meetings via Facebook and Twitter because of this personal approach. Thanks for sharing Penny's book with us.
