Paris au mois d'août. August in Paris

This is a different season for sure. It happends every end of July. It's in the air, the ambiance is slightly different, something intangible, different from the other days.

I can tell about Paris : less cars (ok, not every day), more tourists. And the rythm is definitely slowing down. If you go to Notre Dame, the Sacré Coeur, at night, you will find hundreds of people staying there, singing and talking to each other. France is on holidays every month of august, including the government.
BTW 40% of french businesses are closed in august!

François Garon, a canadian friend of mine (he runs the Referral Institute in Quebec) told me he is going to be quite busy in august.

I'd love to know what's happening in your town. Do you see the same thing all over the world? Some cities I've been in august didn't give me the same impression. Let me know what's happening where you live.
