Women Attorneys Network of the South Shore

By Scott R. Forcino, Esq.

Legal Editor

This month I had the pleasure of reaching out and examining a networking organization called the Women Attorneys Network of the South Shore.

This is a monthly business networking group of local attorneys dedicated to fostering the professional and personal lives of Women Attorneys, particularly those in small firm and solo practices. In addition to networking opportunities (and food), a major focus of the group concerns marketing and growing their professional practice. The Women Attorneys Network of the South Shore was started by Leanna Hamill and Alexis Levitt to meet the needs of women attorneys in solo and small firm settings by offering networking opportunities and educational speakers for personal and professional growth. At the most recent networking/educational event the gracious hosts served dinner, and afforded the participating attorneys a great chance to chat with colleagues and some attorneys new to the area.

This organization addresses the growing demand for a forum in which South Shore attorneys/members can socialize, network and share their talents and experiences. The Women Attorneys Network helped members successfully grow their professional practices through contacts, coaching, and collaboration. These members attend events specifically designed for effective business networking. Through lunches, speaker breakfasts, after-hour events, and educational forums, these members develop the skills to reach goals, and meet the people who can help you achieve them. Seventy percent of members have received business through the network and eighty eight percent have provided referrals to other members.

This group has hosted meetings with educational topics/speakers such as:

  • Financial Planning - lessons from a financial planner to plan for retirement Cooking delicious and healthy food.
  • Estate Planning Mini-Seminar
  • Stress reduction techniques/Yoga
  • Multi-part webinar seminar/detail on business blogging
  • Family Law Mini-Seminar

Overall a very worthy organization focused on creating connections and positive relationships through networking.

  3. I read the Women v. Females article, and it's really interesting. It was something I hadn't even thought about or realized how common it is. Either way though, it's good to see so many different women networking organizations.
