Acknowledge People and What They Do
Acknowledging people and their contributions builds loyalty and trust. Encourage each person in your network to savor the moment in which you share something that you appreciate, admire or value about them. It takes fewer than two minutes and creates a stronger emotional bond between you. People may forget what you do, but they will never forget how you make them feel.

ReplyDeleteMy compliments on your post, and on your keen and practical insight into the human psyche. In both the for-profit and the not-for-profit sectors, recognition is an often underrated but powerful motivator for superior performance and loyalty. This type of positive reinforcement provides encouragement for the praised performer to assume additional responsibility. Regardless of what our parents might have told us (in opposition to Psychologist Maslow), money isn't everything. Acceptance and recognition inspire initiative -- a commodity which is very, very precious.
